We're gearing up for St. Patrick's Day over here and we thought we'd share a few of our favorite Irish recipes this week...
Let's get started with
Irish Soda Bread
Here's your shopping list
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees
In a large food processor or mixer combine your dry ingredients - flour, sugar, baking soda, salt - cut your butter into small squares and add it slowing into the bowl while mixing on low until combined.
Whisk together one egg with the buttermilk and orange zest and slowly combine with the dry ingredients while your mixer is on low speed.
Once the ingredients begin to come together you can put the dough on a floured board and begin to kneed in your raisins and/or currants.
After your dried fruit is completely combined, form the dough into a round loaf shape and score an X into the top with a knife.
Lightly beat your remaining egg and brush it on top of the dough before placing it in the oven to bake for 45-50 minutes.
Slice and enjoy!

Hopped over from 2805 and wanted to look at your recipe. I posted one too and they are similar but not exact. I like the addition of the orange zest and may have to try that. This was my first Irish Soda Bread but not my last. Happy St. Patty's Day to you and yours. highpointcircle
